Patient Goals

Both patients wanted to close noticeable spaces between their teeth, which had developed either from natural alignment issues or gum recession.

Their main goals were to achieve a fuller, more youthful smile — and to feel more confident when smiling and speaking.

Smile Analysis

When there are spaces between teeth, especially near the gumline, it can affect the overall balance and harmony of a smile.

These spaces, often called black triangles, occur when there is a gap between two teeth that the gum tissue no longer fills.

Black triangles can develop from natural tooth shapes, minor shifting over time, or gum recession. They can make a smile appear less full and youthful, and sometimes give the impression that food is caught between the teeth, even when it’s not — causing many patients to feel self-conscious.

In both cases:

• The patient on the left had multiple spaces throughout his smile, along with some discoloration and minor asymmetry.
• The patient on the right had a larger space between her two front teeth and a narrower arch shape that made her smile appear smaller.

Treatment Plan

Veneers were the ideal solution for both patients. Veneers allow us to:

• Precisely close spaces that Invisalign or braces cannot close.
• Reshape and slightly widen the teeth for better proportions
• Whiten and brighten the overall smile
• Create a fuller, more symmetrical smile line that complements the face

Treatment Process

We carefully designed custom veneers for each patient to close the black triangles and enhance the natural shape of their teeth.

For the first patient:

• We did 10 veneers to close all the spaces, improved the symmetry, and brightened the smile for a whiter, more even appearance.

For the second patient:

• We placed 10 veneers to close the space between the two front teeth and subtly widened her smile to create a softer, more complete look.

Each case was designed to blend seamlessly with the patient's features, maintaining a natural, healthy appearance.

Final Result

Leslie’s new smile beautifully closed the black triangles, unified the shade of her teeth, and brought fullness and balance back to her lower face.
