Patient Case Study –Whiten discolored or stained teeth
My wonderful long-time patient had always dreamed of having a brighter, more youthful smile. She’s incredibly accomplished — both professionally and personally — and wanted to finally do something just for herself, something she truly deserved.
This case was especially meaningful to me because she’s been with me since I first graduated from dental school. From the beginning, she’s trusted me with her oral health and over her regular dental visits, we have had such great conversations. I've always admired her work ethic, values, and always positive demeanor. She’s taught me so much about life, and I was truly honored to give her the smile she’s always wanted.
Over time, her teeth had become discolored from natural aging, daily wear and tear, and staining from coffee, tea, and wine. She wanted her smile to reflect the vibrant, youthful energy she carries — while still looking soft, natural, and never “too white” or artificial.
Tooth discoloration is incredibly common with age and lifestyle. Even with good hygiene, enamel naturally thins over time, making teeth appear darker or more yellow.
Stains from foods and drinks can become deeply embedded, especially along the gumline and in between teeth — often making patients feel their smile looks dull, tired, or aged.
In this case, the patient had:
We designed a full-smile veneer treatment that included:
This case was completed using a minimal-prep approach, meaning very little tooth structure was removed.
Because we were adding volume and brightness to her smile, we were able to conserve nearly all of her natural teeth.
Each veneer was designed to be ultra-thin — blending seamlessly with her existing enamel and giving her a beautiful result that still looked like her own smile.
We used both smiling and retracted before-and-after photos to show the full effect:
not just a whiter smile, but also a more youthful and fuller smile line.
With 24 veneers, we were able to brighten her smile, soften the shade for a natural look, and give her a wider, more vibrant smile that truly reflected her personality.
The end result was a fresh, natural enhancement — not a drastic change — and a smile that felt beautifully “hers.”
